چکیده
The fifteenth Text REtrieval Conference, TREC 2006, was held at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 14 to 17 November 2006. The conference was co-sponsored by NIST and the Disruptive Technology Office (DTO). TREC 2006 had 107 participating groups from 17 different countries. Table 2 at the end of the paper lists the participating groups. TREC 2006 is the latest in a series of workshops designed to foster research on technologies for information retrieval. The workshop series has four goals:

UMass at TREC 2006: Enterprise Track
This paper gives an overview of the work done at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst for the TREC 2006 Enterprise track. For the discussion search task, we compare two methods for incorporating thread evidence into the language models of email messages. For the expert finding task, we create implicit expert representations as mixtures of language models from associated documents.

This report describes the lessons learned using the Indri search system during the 2004-2006 TREC Terabyte Tracks. We provide an overview of Indri, and, for the ad hoc and named page finding tasks, discuss our general approach to the problem, what worked, what did not work, and what could possibly work in the future.

This paper reports on Language Computer Corporation’s participation in the Question Answering track at TREC 2006. An overview of the PowerAnswer 3 question answering system and a description of new features added to meet the challenges of this year’s evaluation are provided. Emphasis is given to temporal constraints in questions and how this affected the outcome of the systems in the task. LCC’...

TREC 2006 is the third year for the track. The track was introduced as part of TREC 2004, with a single adhoc retrieval task. For TREC 2005, the track was expanded with two optional tasks: a named page finding task and an efficiency task. These three tasks were continued in 2006, with 20 groups submitting runs to the adhoc retrieval task, 11 groups submitting runs to the named page finding task...
متن کاملThe Ephyra QA System at TREC 2006
The Ephyra QA system has been developed as a flexible open-domain QA framework. This framework allows us to combine several techniques for question analysis and answer extraction and to incorporate multiple knowledge bases to best fit the requirements of the TREC QA track, in which we participated this year for the first time. The techniques used include pattern learning and matching, answer ty...
